Email virus attacks are on the increase

Regrettably we are seeing an increasing range of viruses in our incoming messages. In most cases people do not know that they have malicious code on their machine. Recent viruses can read the address book on the infected machine and then use this information to e-mail itself to your friends and contacts. The outgoing messages can often seem to come from a spoof e-mail address either from within your address book or from addresses found on web pages stored in the host machines cache files.

If you suspect that your machine has been infected by a virus.
1). Do not send or reply to any messages as doing so may pass the virus to someone else.
2). If you have a stand alone anti virus program with up to date virus patterns you should disconnect your computer from the internal network (if present). Disconnect from the Internet and run a full virus scan.
3). If you do not have a recent anti-virus program disconnect from the internal network (if present). Connect to the Internet and go to the
TrendMicro web site to use the free on-line virus scanner on their web site.
4). Download the latest security patches for your operating system and e-mail client.
